Senior Club - Spring 960 Chess Blitz 5+3 was held with Jon Lawrance retaining his 960 Champion’s hat see RESULTS

On a quieter club night than usual – many lucky souls still on Easter holidays - we saw a strong line up of players contesting the well-received main prizes of chocolates, no expense spared at Crowborough.

Jon made a clean sweep with 5/5 though if his ‘lucky’ win against myself was anything to go by it certainly wasn’t easy for him.
Congratulations go to the prize winners of Jon Lawrance 5/5, myself 3½/5 and Charlie Wannasin Bell and Liam Finlay on 3/5

6:30pm Junior Chess Club
7:45pm Senior Chess Club
7:30pm Cup Match vs Horsham

I can report some success from the Hastings International where;
Luke Freeman won the XmasUnder 1650 tournament.
Oliver Stockham played in the XmasU2250 and scored a creditable 2½/5 in this tough tournament.
I did not do well in the Masters scoring only 3/9 and less said the better though I had some very enjoyable games.
In theHastingsJunior Tournament played at the same venue on New Years Day we had a couple of prize winners with Arjun Prasanna and Raul Misquita-Rodrigues picking up rating trophies

Serik Thomas played in his first London Junior Championships in the Under8  Section and scored 2/7 which is a good score in this prestigious tournament

Please let me know if you are playing in any tournaments so that I can put the results on the website and if you can provide a short report and/or pictures that would be great.

Team matches have resumed and the fights to avoid relegation from Division 1 and Division 2 can be set aside while we have some Cup and Trophy matches coming up.

If you would like to be considered for these teams please do let me know.

CLUBNIGHTS

In 2022 we will be meeting every Friday up to and including Friday December 16th
EXCEPT for Friday 28th October.
The good news is that the Pantomime is not having a Friday performance this year so we can meet on the 9th December however Friday 28th October is unavailable to us due to a Flower Show taking over the whole venue for the weekend.

A special Chess960 night is being planned for our last meeting  before Xmas on December 16th so definitely book that night in your diaries.

The Autumn Rapid play tournament is in full swing see results and pairings on https://ecflms.org.uk/lms/node/121982/rounds
We would like to encourage players to stay on until 9:30pm so if you finish your game early please go next door to MR3 and analyse your games or play friendlies I will setup the laptop so you can check your openings etc.
